Oregon has received a national letter of intent from Chipola College point guard Malcolm Armstead, a long-rumored signing even before former guard Kamyron Brown left the program on Saturday.
Armstead is the teammate of Oregon recruit Jeremy Jacob, a forward for the Indians of Marianna, Fla. Armstead averaged 6.8 points, 4.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game, shooting 41-of-79 on three-pointers (52 percent).
Armstead, 6-feet and 195 pounds, finished with an assist-to-turnover rate of 3.3 per game.
Armstead finished his freshman year at Chipola, and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
“The thing that impressed me the most about Malcolm was his contagious passion for the game of basketball and his understanding for the point guard position,” Kent said in a media release. “That passion is going to make everybody around him better.”
