Programs Finance Committee member Andy Cox filed a motion Tuesday night to strip ASUO Sen. Carina Miller of her position.
The motion alleges that Miller, who sits on the PFC, broke committee rules by voting on the ASUO Executive budget Thursday because the budget contained funds for travel to the United States Student Association and Oregon Student Association conferences, in which Miller is involved. Cox, who holds an at-large seat on the committee, e-mailed the motion to the PFC during its meeting Tuesday night.
“PFC member Miller did not list either OSA or USSA as groups to which she is a member and may have a conflict of interest, which is a violation of the PFC bylaws,” Cox’s motion reads.
The motion asks that Miller be stripped of her pay as a senator for one month and that she face “impeachment” before the ASUO Constitution Court.
Miller denied that her vote was influenced by a conflict of interest and said she had made the right choice.
“Using my vote on the committee was using my vote as a student to voice my support for these valuable programs,” Miller said.
