Local families can have a free spaghetti dinner this weekend courtesy of Save-A-Lot grocery store at 4223 Main St. in Springfield.
From 8 a.m. until noon, the store will distribute vouchers for spaghetti dinner ingredients on a first-come, first-served basis. The vouchers can also be downloaded online at www.fuelyourfamilyforfree.com.
The store will provide each customer with a jar of pasta sauce, a box of noodles, two cans of vegetables, one package of garlic breadsticks and a tote bag. There will be enough groceries to supply 4,000 people, according to a release from the company.
“At its core, Save-A-Lot Food Stores is committed to helping families, and today that includes surviving this economic crisis,” Mark Colbo, regional director of Save-A-Lot Food Stores, said in a release. The store will match the number of meals collected with contributions to area food banks.
