A long-awaited announcement came Monday that Jerry Azzinaro will join the Oregon football staff as the defensive line coach, replacing Michael Gray.
Azzinaro had made several stops during his 27-year college football career, the most recent at Marshall, where he spent 2008 after coaching one season at New Hampshire in 2007.
Azzinaro coached NFL Pro Bowler defensive end Dwight Freeney at Syracuse, where he was the recruiting coordinator as well as defensive line coach from 1999-2003.
