Oregon saw its six-game winning streak disappear Thursday night, as the host BYU Cougars held the Ducks off after an early goal to win 1-0.
BYU midfielder Jessica Ringwood scored what would be the game’s only goal in minute 25, assisted by defender Andrea Willis off a free ball that hit Ringwood in the back. The Ducks managed to get seven shots on goal to BYU’s eight – three from Teresa Bowns – but came up empty, in part due to the three saves of Cougars goalkeeper McKinzie Olson.
“It was a pretty evenly fought match on both sides,” head coach Tara Erickson said in a media release. “We had the chances. Our attack was dynamic but we just couldn’t quite get one in the back of the net.”
Forward Jen Stoltenberg had two shots on goal for the Ducks, but goalkeeper Cody Miles managed just one save in the duration of the game.
