Incident: Suspicious vehicles Location: E. 14th Avenue and Ferry Street Time: 8:23 a.m. Saturday, July 11 Description: The driver of a silver or gray Oldsmobile allegedly circled the neighborhood, driving in and out of driveways and alleys so its driver could peer into dumpsters. The caller observed a baseball bat or wooden pole in the front seat and “various types of property” in the backseat.
Incident: Pursuit Location: Starting on Gimpl Hill Road, ending at 85604 Svarverud Road Time: 8:30 to 8:43 a.m. Saturday, July 11 Description: Six officers chased an unlicensed Yamaha sports bike 5.2 miles southeast at speeds that reached 120 miles per hour on Lorane Highway. The driver lost police while traveling south on Svarverud Road, forcing them to drive along the street checking driveways for the motorcycle. Ten minutes after the driver evaded police, they spied her backpack underneath a trailer four-fifths of a mile from the mouth of the road. Police entered the trailer to find the suspect lying on a bed in the trailer refusing to respond. They arrested her.
Incident: Disorderly subject Location: 10th Avenue and Willamette Street Time: 11:39 a.m. Saturday, July 11 Description: A man allegedly threw chairs at and threatened to kill the caller.
Incident: Dispute Location: South Eugene High School, 400 E. 19th Ave. Time: 12:03 p.m. Saturday, July 11 Description: Police detained a man after callers reported he had approached several football players with a syringe, then had a confrontation with a coach.
Incident: Suspicious condition(s) Location: 2075 Floral Hill Dr. Time: 12:05 p.m. Saturday, July 11 Description: A caller said the elderly couple who live next door were out of town, but their house was still occupied, with a yellow truck in the driveway – the couple’s car is a silver SUV. However, closer scrutiny revealed that the car belonged to a construction crew working on the property.
Incident: Criminal trespass Location: Van Buren Street and Railroad Boulevard Time: 1:51 p.m. Saturday, July 11 Description: A man called a train to tell its operators he was lying on the tracks. The train stopped. The man moved, but was still close to the tracks. He was arrested.
Incident: Criminal mischief Location: 4175 Wagner St. Time: 2 a.m. Sunday, July 12 Description: A woman reported her house was egged.
Incident: Dispute Location: 8th Avenue and Blair Boulevard Time: 11:02 a.m. Sunday, July 12 Description: A caller said two homeless men, one of whom was “visibly intoxicated,” were fighting over a bag of cans. – Alex Tomchak Scott
