The Daily Emerald recently caught up with junior offensive lineman C.E. Kaiser to ask him a few questions. The 290-pound tackle from Veradale, Wash., has started both games this year and is the most experienced lineman on the team with 12 career starts to his name.
Oregon Daily Emerald: What’s your major?
C.E. Kaiser: Sociology.
ODE: Are you going to graduate on time?
CK: What I’m trying to do is have it so I have one more credit to take next football season so I can play next year.
ODE: What do you want to do with that?
CK: I don’t really know. I’m thinking about going to law school; that would be cool. All of my family owns small businesses so probably what I want to do is open my own business.
ODE: If you weren’t playing football, what would you do?
CK: That’s a hard question. If I wasn’t playing football I would probably be working on and helping at a car lot. My brother owns a bunch of car lots, my dad does, and my whole family does. So I would probably be doing something with cars and the family business.
ODE: What’s your favorite sport outside of football?
CK: Snowboarding. I love snowboarding.
ODE: Do you go up every winter to Mount Bachelor?
CK: I wish. I can’t. I just don’t want to get hurt or anything. The coolest place I’ve ever been is a place up in Canada but the mountains around here are awesome too.
ODE: When’s the last time you went?
CK: My freshman year. I went home for Christmas and went once, but not since then.
ODE: Describe the feeling of running out the tunnel on game day.
CK: I like to keep mellow. The tunnel is black so it’s calming, then we run out and the fans are excited so we get excited. But it’s a mellow excitement for me.
ODE: What’s it like on the offensive line with all the noise?
CK: It’s weird because it’s a dull loud. It is loud, but it’s not like piercing loud so you can’t hear anything on offense. Since it is dull, it doesn’t distract you and you can hear the quarterback’s voice.
