Time for a rematch.
One night after beating King in the quarterfinals, Oregon took tournament host Azusa Pacific, downing the Cougars 277.625-271.335. The Ducks won five of the six events and dominated the second half to advance to for a national championship rematch Baylor.
Oregon won the first event to take an early 0.30 lead. The team increased that lead in the acro event with a 0.20 advantage for a 66.50-66.00 advantage.
Azusa Pacific won the pyramid event, 29.25-29.15, but Oregon held a 95.65-95.25 lead at halftime.
Oregon took the toss event 28.90-27.70 to increase its lead to 124.55-122.95 with the tumbling and team events remaining — two of the program’s strongest events throughout the season.
The Ducks outscored Azusa Pacific 56.525-54.825 to take a 181.075-177.775 lead going into the final event of the night.
In the team event, the Ducks dominated again, outscoring the hosts 96.55-93.56 to win the meet 277.625-271.335.
Oregon will take on Baylor in a repeat of last year’s national championship match on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Ducks and Bears split a home-and-home series this season. Each team won its home mat. Baylor has won the last two NCATA crowns. Oregon last won in 2014 when it took down Azusa Pacific in the final match of the season.
