It’s been an unusually cold and rainy spring in Eugene, but don’t let a little drizzle get you down. There are still plenty great things to do this spring, rain or shine. Whether you’re looking for something to do on a date, with friends or family, here are 10 great (mostly) weather-proof ideas:
1) Create pottery art at Brush Fire. Make a gift for your beau, for Father’s Day or just make something cool that says, “Yeah, I made this. Impressed?”
2) Check out a track and field event. We are “Track Town, USA” after all.
3) Enjoy a little competitive mini golf at Camp Putt on Franklin Boulevard.
4) Enjoy some outdoor and water sports at the Fern Ridge Lake.
5) Go to as many outdoor musical festivals as you can. Couldn’t make it to Sasquatch? Check out artists like Kid Cudi at the Cuthbert Amphitheater. The number one advantage of outdoor concerts: fewer sweaty people and natural air conditioning.
6) Go see the new Andy Warhol exhibit at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art
7) Go to the Museum of Unfine Art and Record Store. Never saw a vinyl record before? Well then this is the perfect spring date place for you. It’s also a great place to have a first date and discover each other’s musical interests.
8) Walk to Hendricks Park’s rhododendron garden while the flowers are in bloom.
9) Hike at Silver Falls State Park. If you have a car, this is a must-see. Just east of Salem, Silver Falls State Park is Oregon’s largest state park and boasts 10 waterfalls. For those of you with less-than-athletic skills, don’t worry, this is a pretty mild hike.
10) If all else fails, see “Avatar” for the 80th time. The dollar movie theater at Gateway Mall may be one of the greatest ideas ever. Take advantage of it while you can.
