The 2010 ASUO fall Street Faire will take place along East 13th Avenue between University and Kincaid streets this week from Wednesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
ASUO Events Coordinator Molly Bennison said she’s been working all summer with ASUO President and former Events Coordinator Amelie Rousseau to plan the event and hopes for a good turnout.
“This is the ASUO’s most visible and biggest event for students and the campus community,” Bennison said.
Bennison worked during the summer to recruit vendors and found so many businesses that ASUO had to create a waiting list. There will be more than 60 local vendors during the three-day period.
“I’m really excited because there’s going to be a lot of vendors,” Bennison said. “It’s a diverse group of vendors.”
There was worry that the construction on East 13th Avenue in front of the Lillis Business Complex would make it difficult for the event to proceed, but Bennison said that the ASUO hopefully had it all figured out.
KWVA will be DJ-ing all three days, while On The Rocks will perform at 4 p.m. Friday. Bennison also said the University’s Cultural Forum will host concerts Friday afternoon and evening.
“We hope it enhances the campus community,” Bennison said.
The ASUO hosts two Street Faires a year: one in the fall and one in the spring.
