Portland State running back Cory McCaffrey switched positions from wide receiver this season and has made the most of it. The Sisters native and Oregon high school rushing record-holder leads the Vikings with 64 yards per game on the ground, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. The Vikings have to run the ball effectively to keep the prayer of an upset alive.
Oregon senior Casey Matthews (nine tackles, one for loss this season) has made improvements in his first two games of the year. With a good showing against Portland State, he could be recognized among the Pac-10’s elite defenders.
