The news moves pretty fast and cases of the coronavirus continue to rise in Oregon. The Daily Emerald summarized the top COVID-19 news. See what you might have missed:
Lane County
The total number of cases is currently 1,118 in Lane County, with 175 infectious and nine in the hospital, according to Lane County Public Health. Lane County had 134 new cases since Monday, according to the Oregon Health Authority. The Latinx community continues to be disproportionately affected based on their percent of cases compared to their percent of the population in the county, according to LCPH.
Since last week, there have been two more deaths in Lane County, bringing the total to 16 deaths from the coronavirus, according to LCPH.
University of Oregon
UO reported 39 new cases of COVID-19 since Monday, Sept. 21. This includes three incoming students who were tested prior to moving into dorms and are now recovering in isolation, according to the UO dedicated COVID-19 site.
The university and county are currently at a high alert level, meaning “increased cases, including spread in the community; available but stressed capacity in health care facilities,” according to the UO site.
At this alert level, the county and UO recommend that most contact remain limited and daily activities are modified to reduce personal exposure.
Statewide
OHA reported 1,104 new cases and 14 new deaths since Monday, Sept. 14, bringing the state’s totals to 31,865 cases and 539 deaths.
