After the first round of play at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships in Tempe, Ariz., the Oregon women’s golf team is tied for fourth place at 2-over par.
The No. 33 Ducks are eight strokes behind co-leaders No. 2 USC and No. 24 Stanford, six strokes behind No. 1 UCLA, and even with No. 7 Arizona.
Several Ducks endured temperatures nearing triple-digits Sunday to post strong rounds.
Erica Omlid led the Ducks with a 1-under 71. Omlid birdied three of the first six holes before cooling off on the back nine. She finished in a tie for ninth place in the individual portion of the competition.
Right behind Omlid in a tie for 11th place were fellow Ducks Ashley Edwards and Kendra Little. Each shot an even-par 72. Little was cruising through her round at 2 under par before a double bogey on the 16th hole, while Edwards had an up-and-down round with three birdies and three bogeys.
Raphaela Dyer and Cheyenne Hickle rounded out Oregon’s grouping at 3 and 4 over par, respectively. Dyer and Hickle each bogeyed three of their last six holes.
Oregon will return to action this morning for the second day of the Pac-10 Championships.
