With an assist from its ace, Oregon’s baseball team topped No. 6 Oregon State 4-1 Friday night at PK Park.
Pitching perhaps his final game in a Duck uniform (he’s expected to be a high pick in next months Major League Baseball draft), Tyler Anderson pitched 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball, striking out 10 along the way, to earn his eighth win of the year. After Anderson departed to a standing ovation in the eighth, Madison Boer came in to pitch the final 1 2/3 innings to notch his third save of the season.
The Ducks scored single runs in the first and third innings to take an early lead. Oregon State came back with a run in the top of the seventh, but KC Serna launched a two-run home run to left field to give Oregon some breathing room.
The teams will meet tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for the second game of the weekend’s three-game set.
