After placing second at the Pacific-10 Conference men’s golf championships last week, the Oregon men had two golfers receive All-Pac-10 recognition, the league announced Tuesday.
Junior Daniel Miernicki was one of nine players named to the first team — for the second year in a row — and fellow junior Andrew Vijarro was a second team selection.
Miernicki led the Ducks in scoring this season with a 71.84 stroke average, and picked up two medalist honors this season to bring his career tournament win total to four.
Vijarro, a Bend native, finished second on the team with his 72.39 average per round and paced the Ducks with a ninth-place finish at the Pac-10 Championships.
UCLA’s Patrick Cantlay was named golfer of the year and freshman of the year, and Bruins coach Derek Freeman won coach of the year. @@http://www.dailybruin.com/index.php/article/2011/05/no._1ranked_golfer_patrick_cantlay_wins_multiple_honors_and_will_lead_the_no._4_ucla_mens_golf_team_@@ @@http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/ucla/post/_/id/5965/patrick-cantlay-sweeps-pac-10-golf-awards@@ @@http://www.arizonawildcats.com/sports/m-golf/spec-rel/051011aab.html@@
