Nia Jackson scored a game-high 22 points, but the Oregon Ducks collapsed in overtime as the Huskies (9-10, 4-6 Pacific-10 Conference) beat the Ducks (12-9, 3-7) 90-76 in Seattle on Thursday night.
Oregon had an 18-point lead with 15:27 remaining, but Washington chipped away to the tune of a 23-5 run.
“You’re feeling like the game got away from you, no question,” assistant coach Dan Muscatell said. “When we were up 18, we felt pretty good about ourselves.”
Huskies guard Kristi Kingma buried a three-pointer with 5.8 seconds remaining in the game to put UW ahead 74-73, but Jackson was fouled on the ensuing possession.
Jackson, a Seattle native, missed her first free throw attempt but made the second with 1.3 seconds remaining to force overtime.
However, her status for Saturday against Washington State is questionable. In the first half, Jackson injured her left knee, which had anterior cruciate ligament surgery two years ago. She would return to the game but, after getting fouled with 1.3 seconds left, Jackson injured her right knee.
“That won’t be known until tonight or tomorrow, when (trainer) Tori (Noda) gets her into treatment,” Muscatell said.
Amanda Johnson scored her 1,000th career point in a 16-point, 10-rebound effort for the Ducks, and freshman Deanna Weaver added 13 points.
Five Huskies reached double-figure points, led by Kingma’s 20. Two players had double-doubles for UW: Regina Rogers (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Mackenzie Argens (10 points, 10 rebounds).
Freshman forward Marjorie Heard contributed 13 points for Washington, and Sarah Morton added 12 points.
