The Oregon women’s softball team (14-2) received its first honor of the season from the Pacific-10 Conference on Tuesday afternoon when sophomore pitcher Jessica Moore was tabbed the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week.
The Sutter, Calif., native ended the Ducks weekend at the Libby Matson Tournament with a 3-0 record, recording 19 strikeouts in her 16 innings of work. Moore did not give up a single earned run while allowing up three hits or less in each start, limiting her opponents to a .115 batting average.
For the season, Moore leads Oregon in ERA (0.91), strikeouts (62), innings (46 1/3), starts (eight) and complete games (three).
It was the second time the sophomore has received the award in her short career.
UCLA’s Alyssa Tiumalu garnered Pac-10 Player of the Week honors after helping the Bruins to a 4-2 record at the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. Tiumalu hit safely in all six games and hit .625 for the weekend.
Oregon junior Kelsey Chambers was also nominated for the award.
The Ducks are set to travel to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., this weekend when they participate in the ESPN Rise Tournament at the ESPN Diamondplex.
