Oregon women’s tennis just can’t catch a break.
The Ducks took their eight straight loss Saturday afternoon to Long Beach State. Oregon didn’t pick up a single point in the 4-0 loss, leaving just one more opportunity for a win this season on Sunday.
Since the dismissal of three players and the injury of one more, the Ducks record has taken a major hit. They are 11-10, 3-7 Pac-12 following the dry spell.
The beating began when Long Beach State took the doubles point. Oregon was forced to forfeit one court due to injury, so with just one doubles win, the 49ers took the opening point.
Moving to singles, another No. 6 forfeit followed by a 6-2, 6-0 loss for Oregon on No. 5 put the Ducks behind 3-0.
On No. 1, Nia Rose battled to put Oregon on the board, but tumbled 6-0, 7-5 to give Long Beach the final point and the win 4-0.
The Ducks have just one more chance to break their losing streak. That match will be Sunday when Oregon battles Loyola Marymount in the last match before the Pac-12 tournament.
