Jessica Nair
Age: 19
Major: Human Physiology
Hometown:Hillsboro, OR
Year: Sophomore
ODE: Summary of Platform
Nair: I’m looking into talking with the faculty and administration about course selection, job placement, internships and just having the student body connected. Anything about the general sciences.
ODE: What qualifies you for this position? Why do you want the job?
Nair: I like to be involved in school and ever since high school I was involved with student government, and I just want a way to be connected to the whole student body and try to help them out. This is a small part, it’s just general science, just helping them out. I think I’m a — I listen to people and I try to accomplish what they want. I’m not going to do what I want, I’m going to listen to other people. I think I have good leadership skills.
ODE: In light of the ASUO retreat to Sunriver, Ore., what’s the best way to ensure proper accountability from student leaders next year?
Nair: I think the ASUO is a positive organization, they do a lot for the school itself and that was like a black cloud coming over them. Just something small. I mean it was …[inaudible comment]. It was something bad that happened but they do so much positive things, we should overlook it and just look at the positive things they do for the school and what they will do in the future.
ODE: Should the Senate be dealing with any other issues that it is not currently attending to? If so, what are they?
Nair: About….
ODE: Any issues at all.
Nair: Nothing I can think of right now.
ODE: What issues would you like to cover as a student Senator if you’re elected?
Nair: As a general science? I’m more into looking into getting more internships for students, because there isn’t a lot out there for pre-health majors, and more job placement and also just seeing what the student body needs in general — what they want, what they’re looking for.
