Fair to raise awareness
about eating disorders
To kick off Eating Disorders Awareness and Prevention Week the University Counseling Center, Health Center, Health Education staff and peer educators will host a “Body Positive Fair” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today in the Fir Room of the EMU.
The goal of the fair is to promote self-esteem and positive body images, and it will include tables with handouts on how to help a friend with disordered eating. There will also be a table featuring soothing activities, such as making eye pillows and positive affirmation bookmarks.
Health Educator Kristen Olmos with the University Health Center will be teaching how to eat healthily without dieting.
In addition to a Barbie mannequin that will be on display to represent how bodies are portrayed inaccurately by the media, prizes will be given away, including free massages to gift certificates to the University Bookstore. For more information, call 346-2728.
