The top-ranked Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball team defeated Oregon State, 72-60, Thursday night in Tucson, Ariz., ruining the homecoming for Oregon State head coach Jay John, a former Arizona assistant.
The Beavers (13-13 overall, 6-11 Pac-10) lost for the 20th year in a row at McKale Center. Arizona (24-2, 16-1) has already clinched the conference title. The Wildcats’ Salim Stoudamire was benched in the second half, and his status for Saturday’s game against Oregon will be decided at practice today.
In Los Angeles, the Washington Huskies dropped USC, 95-89, to keep pace with UCLA for the eighth and final spot in the Pac-10 Tournament. UCLA beat Washington State on Thursday, 86-71.
