Ahhh, Valentine’s Day. What type of person are you? The one who
despises it
or relishes it? I’m in the middle. I’m the sort of person who thinks
there
shouldn’t be one day set forth for all this love stuff. I think what
makes it
really repulsive is that it is so commercialized. How does a balloon
that
says “Happy Valentine’s Day” signify real love? Maybe because it
withers and
dies in a week.
I think Valentine’s Day should be more about something that you make
your
loved one, whether that be a friend or significant other. You can bake
some
cookies or make a card. I prefer cookies — hint hint — because you
can make
such a wide variety that you can really gear it towards a particular
loved
one. I hate nuts. And no you can’t buy the cookies already made, you
need to
bake them at home. Chocolate chip are my favorite. And there is a huge
difference between the store-bought dough and ones you make from
scratch. Have
you ever eaten that stuff from the store? Disgusting.
I actually don’t really care what happens during V-Day. To each his
own.
Right now I’m trying to finish a present that has been taking some
time. It
was originally a Christmas present, but I had to change it to V-Day,
only to
find that it isn’t quite finished.
Right now I am packing for San Diego, where the Ultimate team has their
first
huge tournament. Where V-Day won’t be an issue. I can remember this
tournament from last year. We lost in the finals to Colorado, but we
played
great and had so much fun. It was my first real college tournament at
the
time, and I was impressed with everything that went on. Now I’m a
veteran and
this is old hat. Maybe that means I will know how to have fun to the
fullest
extent that the party — I mean tournament — will allow.
So, have a great weekend. Mine is an extra day because the tournament
lasts
through Monday. It seems the University doesn’t take President’s Day
off
from school
while most of the country does. An extra day in Cali won’t hurt me or
my tan
and decreases my seventh week of school to three days.
P.S. My asthma thing is going fine. I went in and got retested and
found
that I have improved slightly. Although to my body, it feels like there
is
twice as much fresh air getting in. I am going to get tested for
allergies
and see if that is causing this asthma and pray that it is.
