After playing in a field that included four teams ranked ahead of it, Oregon women’s golf (No. 36) won the Peg Barnard Invitational, shooting eight strokes over par (576).
The Pac-12 teams who participated in the tournament included Stanford (No. 3), California (No. 34) and Colorado (No. 35). Stanford finished fourth in the tournament. UC Davis (No. 30) also played, finishing three strokes behind Oregon in second place.
Paige Lee of UC Davis won the individual tournament, shooting 5-under (137).
Oregon freshman Kelsey Ulep finished third in the standings (2-under, 140), while Cassy Isagawa tied for fourth (1-under, 141). Ulep also notched the highest number of birdies of anyone in the tournament with ten and had the lowest, scoring average on par-three holes (2.70). Since Isagawa played as an individual throughout the tournament, her performance did not factor in the team’s overall score.
Cathleen Santoso finished close behind Ulep at even par (142). Caroline Inglis (6-over, 148), Marcella Pranovia (6-over, 148) and Cali Hipp (7-over, 149) competed over the weekend, as well.
The Ducks thrived on par-three holes, shooting even par and besting the rest of the field by four strokes in the category.
In the first round on Saturday morning, the Ducks shot 8-over (292), and sat second out of twelve in the standings at the end of the day. Cathleen Santoso and Ulep led the charge, both shooting 1-under (70).
Ulep birdied three out of her final four holes on the day, finishing with five overall in the tournament. Santoso finished with four as the Ducks led the field with 15 as a team.
Oregon’s best performance of the day, however, didn’t even count towards its overall score.
Isagawa recorded a 2-under (69) in her lowest round of the season. She competed in this round as an individual – a score that doesn’t contribute to the team score. She managed to sink three birdies and just one bogey for the day.
“We have lots of experience on this golf course and we are looking forward to getting after it tomorrow,” Scott said to GoDucks.com.
Get after it, they did.
On the tournament’s final day, the Ducks shot even par (284). Ulep once again led Oregon with another 1-under (70), while Santoso fired a 1-over (72). Ulep managed to record the same number of birdies (5) as well.
Caroline Inglis (even par, 71), Marcella Pranovia (2-over, 73) and Cali Hipp (even par, 71) improved their scores by a combined 15 strokes from day one.
The Ducks once again led the field in birdies with 15. They posted the third-most pars in the entire tournament with 110.
