Jillian Alleyne stands alone on one national player-of-the-year watch list.
Alleyne is the sole Pac-12 representative on the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list, released Wednesday afternoon.
The award for women’s basketball’s national player of the year is voted on by 1,000 sports journalists covering the NCAA. The winner will be announced next spring on April 11, 2016 in Oklahoma City.
So far this year, Alleyne is averaging 17 points a game and 13.2 boards a game, helping the Ducks stay undefeated at 6-0. She’s recorded a double-double in 22 straight games, which broke her own Pac-12 and UO record of 21 straight from last season. Last month, Alleyne was named to the Wooden Award watch list as one of 30 student-athletes nationally.
“One of the things I said is that for her to leave a legacy as truly one of the best players to play in the conference, I think we’ve got to get to the NCAA Tournament,” Oregon head coach Kelly Graves said before the season started. “Otherwise a lot of those records are going to be hollow.”
The list is headlined by two-time winner Breanna Stewart of Connecticut.
The Ducks play Utah Valley on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena.
