Through two rounds at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite in San Jose, Calif., on Monday, the No. 21 Oregon women’s golf team sits in fourth place with a total score of 21-over 597.
The Ducks shot a 9-over 297 to open the tournament and followed that with a 12-over 300 in the second round, which was also played on Monday. As has become routine, standout Cassy Isagawa led the way for Oregon with a blistering 3-under 69 in the opening round to take the overall lead. The freshman faltered a bit in the second round with a 4-over 76, but remains tied for fifth at 1-over 145 heading into play today.
Close behind Isagawa were freshman Cali Hipp and senior Ashley Edwards, who each came up with a total score of 148 (4-over par) to tie for 12th overall. Sophomore Raphaela Dyer followed in a tie for 29th overall (12-0ver 156), and freshman Monica Petchakan rounded out the top five Oregon players with 21-over 165.
Heading into Tuesday’s action, No. 23 California holds a commanding five-stroke lead in the overall team standings at 7-over 583, with No. 25 UC Davis trailing in second with a 12-over 588. No. 13 Washington rounded out the top three with a 20-over 596 and in all, the Ducks stand 14 strokes off the lead.
The final two rounds of play begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
