Dollar Beers, “Dollas,” “$Beers” or “DBs” is a campus tradition at Taylor’s Bar and Grille that happens every Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
It’s pretty simple — you pay $1 as cover and then all microbrews on tap are $1. Seriously – each beer is only a $1! There’s a massive selection: Ninkasi Believer, Widmer Hefeweizen, Mirror Pond, Hop Valley Double D Blonde, Hop Valley Alphadelic IPA, Budweiser, Bud Light and Natural Light.
Many people choose to order two beers at once because there is often a large crowd around the bar, and it can be a bit of a wait at times. This act of double-fisting can be hazardous because Taylor’s is usually packed on Wednesdays, so remember to maneuver carefully. Also, make sure you get to Taylor’s at the beginning of Dollar Beers or else you run the risk of waiting in line outside for a while.
Dollar Beers is a tradition for many groups of friends, and there are some who claim they have never missed a single one since they turned 21. It’s fun, it’s cheap, it’s convenient and if you’ve never been then you have to go at least once before you graduate.
When they ring the bell at 10:30 p.m. signaling the end of the Dollar Beers, it’s often a moment of delight for those who managed to snag a beer in the knick of time, and a moment of sadness for those who were too late. But there’s no reason to be sad for long — directly after Dollar Beers is $2 wells until midnight. Happy drinking!
