The Nurnberg, Germany, native finished fourth in a race that included the top four collegiate times in the mile so far this season. Hillary Stellingwerff of Speed River TFC was third in 4:29.37, while Kesselring finished fourth in 4:32.61, giving her the second-fastest collegiate mile in 2012. In the triple jump, senior Brian Schaudt also made some history for the Ducks. On his last attempt, Schaudt went 50-9.25/15.47m to win the event. The performance landed the Philomath, Ore., native the fourth-best effort on Oregon’s all-time indoors list.
In the regular slate of the men’s mile, freshman Daniel Winn won his section with a time of 4:05.21. Senior Travis Stanford finished close behind in 4:05.22. They finished in seventh and eighth, respectively, on Saturday.
In the women’s mile, sophomore Meagan Patrignelli finished on top of the regular division with a personal-best time of 4:43.38. Sophomore middle distance runner Laura Roesler was the top collegiate finisher in the women’s 800 meters. Roesler finished fourth overall (2:05.0) behind winner Geena Gall of Oregon Track Club Elite (2:03.12).
Two members of Oregon’s football team also made their track debuts in Seattle on Saturday. Sophomore Dior Mathis ran a personal-best 6.80 to win his heat in the 60-meter dash, while freshman B.J. Kelley came in at 6.83 to finish second in his heat. The Ducks return to action Feb. 24 when they head back to Seattle for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
