We’ll be trying to find stories and headlines inherently relevant to situations that persist today. Here’s our first chapter.

“Senate discusses electronic ticketing”
The proposed system would base students’ access to sporting event tickets on their year in school.
Robert D’Andrea | Emerald archives
This story described the Senate’s early discussions of making football and men’s basketball tickets available online, rather than in line. It includes many references to policies that still exist today, including barring two-game no-shows from future tickets, Civil War preference based on previous attendance and a class-seniority system. Senate didn’t make a decision at that week’s meeting regarding online ticketing, but the article indicated the upcoming vote on the athletic department Finance Committee’s budget would include it. Next fall, students signed up for tickets online, and they have ever since.
