The Oregon men’s basketball team just got a big boost. Senior transfer from Rice, Arsalan Kazemi@@directory@@ has had his hardship waiver accepted by the NCAA, rendering him eligible to begin playing for Oregon.
UO athletic department confirmed that Kazemi is cleared via Twitter.
The Iranian-born hoopster played his first three years of college basketball at Rice University in Houston, Texas, before electing to transfer to Oregon after the majority of the Rice basketball team transferred.
Kazemi is a member of the Iranian men’s basketball team and captained the Iranian under-18 national team as well.
The 6-foot-7, 226-pound forward is expected to make a major contribution for the Ducks, having averaged a double-double for his entire collegiate career.
