The latest AP poll holds few surprises for Oregon and Alabama, as the Ducks idled at No. 2 following their bye week.
Ahead of them at No. 1, the Crimson Tide rolled over SEC newbie Missouri, 42-10. The win garnered unanimous first-place votes for Bama for the third straight week.
Outside of the top two spots, however, there were plenty of shake-ups. Former No. 3 South Carolina lost 23-21 to now-No. 6 LSU, and fellow SEC power Florida replaced them in the third spot. Kansas State and Notre Dame round out the top five.
The Irish are 6-0 for the first time in 10 years after stopping now-No. 22 Stanford with a thrilling goal-line stand at the end of the game.
No. 4 Kansas State will face a West Virginia team that dropped 12 spots to No. 17 after a brutal 49-17 loss to Texas Tech. The game will also have Heisman implications. Mountaineers quarterback Geno Smith and Wildcats quarterback Collin Klein are both compiling glittering seasons.
Oregon travels to Tempe, Ariz., to play unranked Arizona State this Thursday.
