Eugene man shoots paintballs at police officers
Police were met with a man firing paintballs at them after responding to a call Sunday evening.
During a 30-minute standoff the man shot off 50 rounds at the officers. Two of the officers reported being shot, but none were hurt according to KMTR.
The man was drunk, out of control and threatening officers. He was charged with assaulting a public safety officer among other things.
Man’s body found near Valley River Center
Medical examiners are looking into the cause of death of a man whose body was found off a trail near Valley River Center Sunday evening.
The man has not been identified and police do not suspect foul play according to The Register-Guard.
Woman seriously hurt after crashing into a tree
A woman lost control of her pickup truck Saturday evening and crashed into a tree near West 5th Avenue and Chambers.
The driver lost control, crossed traffic, rode over the sidewalk and crashed head-on into a tree. The woman was taken to the hospital for serious injuries although none have been reported as life-threatening according to KVAL.
Witnesses said that speeding may have been a factor.
Gas prices remain high
Average gas prices in Oregon are around $4.07, which is 28 cents higher than the national average. The current price is the same as a week ago and five cents higher than a month ago, according to KMTR.
Eugene-Springfield prices are higher still averaging around $4.10.
Eugene police look into a bank robbery
Eugene Police are looking for a man who robbed a local Wells Fargo bank branch near West 7th and Polk. The robbery occurred close to 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.
Officers are in the area and investigating the scene according to The Register-Guard.
