Local business invests in solar power
Glory Bee Foods, a natural food manufacturer, installed solar panels on its business on North Seneca Road, which could save the company $2,000 per year in energy costs, according to KMTR.
Glory Bee took full advantage of incentives from EWEB and the federal government that helped the company afford the panels.
Springfield woman wins big
After only 15 minutes playing the slots, a Springfield couple won the $1.2 million jackpot from the MegaBucks slot machine inside Three Rivers Casino in Florence. These winnings make this the fourth jackpot to be won at the casino.
The couple, who has chosen to remain anonymous, have been regular visitors since 2004, according to KVAL.
Police warn Eugene residents about daytime robbers
Police are trying to educate Eugene residents about daytime robbers who go around to houses knocking on doors to check if people are home. If people aren’t home the robbers will break in and steal jewelery and electronics, putting them in backpacks and riding away on bicycles.
Police say that on Oct. 16 and Oct. 17, seven break-ins occurred between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to The Register-Guard.
Alleged thief arrested in south Eugene
An alleged thief was arrested in south Eugene Friday morning on charges of possession of burglary tools, interfering with police and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police arrested the man after finding him with a unspecified burglary tool and a baton-like weapon, according to The Register-Guard.
New bottle return proposed in West Eugene
The Oregon Bottle Recycling Cooperative has proposed a 26-thousand square foot bottle recycling facility on West Broadway Avenue, near Garfield Street.
The centralized facility would weigh cans to determine how much people are owed. The project hopes to make the process easier and more efficient while reducing the strain businesses feel, according to KMTR. @@all links checked@@
