A University student was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and criminal mischief after he hauled a woman’s glass table from her porch and moved it a block away, returned and then refused to leave her front porch early Sunday, police said.
University student Nicholas T. Horton, 22, approached another student’s house on Ferry Street and knocked on the door around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Kerry Delf said.
She answered the door, and the two spoke before the student shut the door on Horton, Delf said.
Horton refused to leave, and at one point, took the glass table from her porch and moved it approximately one block away, Delf said. Horton then returned to stand on the student’s porch again, Delf said.
In a separate incident, a Springfield man was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing for refusing to leave a University student’s front porch, Delf said.
The student called police after a man knocked on his door, asked to use his telephone and tried to enter his home on Augusta Street, Delf said.
Christopher A. Lundy, 27, of Springfield was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass I, Delf said.
Lundy’s estranged wife lives in the neighborhood, and he had a dispute with her shortly before he approached the student’s home, Delf said.
Lundy pounded on the front door and asked to use the phone, Delf said. When the student left the door to get the phone, Lundy tried to enter the home, Delf said.
The student pushed Lundy out and called police, Delf said.
Police found Lundy in the neighborhood and arrested him, Delf said.
“Alcohol was most likely involved in both these events,” Delf said.
