The Designated Driver Shuttle did not receive the 10.91 percent increase in funding requested
during Tuesday’s Programs Finance Committee meeting. Instead, the PFC voted 4-0-2 to allocate the group a 6.82 percent increase.
The PFC’s approved increase gave the DDS an increase of $6,434 to raise its budget to $100,741.
There were concerns that last year’s spending report was not complete because of drivers buying gas with their own money, then adding that amount onto their paycheck.
The decision to not raise the program’s budget also stemmed from the fact that in the past it has not used up its gas and maintenance funds.
DDS was allowed an increase of $8,000 rather than the $9,000 it requested. PFC members did approve of a 5 percent increase for the Association of Anthropology Graduate
Students in a vote of 5-0-1. The AAGS did not receive the amount they recommended because of an inability to secure a public speaker.
The Constitution Court’s finance meeting had to be tabled because its finances were incomplete at the time of the meeting. Also tabled was the African Students Association because a representative from the organization didn’t show up for the meeting.
Interfraternity Council members received their requested 4.84 percent increase after a 4-0-1 vote. Their request came mainly from a request for an increase in community building program funding.
Jewish Student Union secured an increase of 8.77 percent in a 4-0-1 vote, for an overall increase of $6,515.
PFC members said much of the reason behind the JSU’s request for a funding increase came from the desire to help fund the Union’s “Day Against Hate” program.
