Bill Sizemore, the executive director of Oregon Taxpayers United and a frequent activist for less government spending and taxation, will respond to Gov. Ted Kulongoski’s proposed budget and tax increases at the City Club of Eugene meeting Friday.
Kulongoski has proposed tax increases on cigarettes, auto insurance and corporate profits. The money is intended to fund budget increases for education, health care and police. Sizemore will give a rebuttal to Tim Nesbitt, Kulongoski’s deputy chief of staff, who spoke at the City Club on March 2 in favor of the proposals.
The meeting will be held at 11:50 a.m. at the Downtown Athletic Club at 999 Willamette St. Admission is free to City Club members and $3 for non-members.
The meeting will be broadcasted on radio station KLCC 89.7 FM on Monday at 6:30 p.m.
