Platform summary: Kallaway wants to increase the cultural and physical growth of the University through the EMU. She said the EMU houses the student unions, which make a “community within a community.”
Qualifications: Kallaway said her business major makes her “monetarily focused,” which is important to understanding financial issues. She has been working on the ASUO diversity plan and said she understands the importance of a diverse student body.
Reasons for applying: Kallaway said the EMU Board is a stepping-stone to get more involved in campus and to be a part of everything available to students.
Role of student government in local, state and federal politics: The ASUO should invest time in creating a pipeline between the campus and the city of Eugene, Kallaway said. She said the city offers a lot of resources for citizens and that creating a relationship will allow students to work on issues that are important to them. She also said the ASUO can work on the state level to push for things that students really need and that students should have a constant flow of information about international issues, but that the ASUO should not make stands on issues they can not affect.

Qualifications: Jones said she has a lot of experience in clubs and activities and has organized a lot of events. She said law school has taught her about negotiation, which will help on the Senate.
Reasons for applying: Jones wants to bring the ASUO and law school together. She also wanted to be involved and said the Senate will be entertaining, if not always fun.
Role of student government in local, state and federal politics: Jones said the student government has a role in city, state and federal politics in issues that directly affect students, but does not have obligations to international politics.
Name: Eduardo Dawson
Age: 18
Desired position: EMU Board Senate Seat 6
Major: Business Administration
Hometown: Eugene
Year in school: Freshman

Platform summary: Dawson is running on the campus improvement slate, which is dedicated to cutting costs, expanding services and build community. He said they are focusing on things that can be accomplished in one year.
Qualifications: Dawson said he is a student who likes to be involved and is very outgoing and outspoken.
Reasons for applying: The job is good experience working with budgets for important programs, Dawson said.
Role of student government in local, state and federal politics: Dawson said if involvement is expanded to other levels of government, it should be limited to issues that affect students.
