Different team, same results.
As the Oregon Ducks continue to limp into the last weekend of the season, things just keep getting worse. Tuesday night, it was a 2-0 loss to state rival Oregon State.
For Oregon (14-38) it marked the third time the team has been shut out in its last four games. The Ducks were shut out twice against No. 3 Arizona State last weekend, but before that they had failed to score a run in only two other games.
Beaver starter Tyler Waldron (5-3) threw 7.1 innings, giving up all five Oregon hits while striking out 10 batters. Reliever Kraig Sitton pitched the final two outs of the eighth inning, before closer Kevin Rhoderick pitched the ninth for the save.
Alex Keudell (0-5) threw for Oregon. He pitched all eight innings for the team, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out six Beavers.
The Ducks had their chances. In the third inning Danny Pulfer was on third base with one out, but KC Serna struck out and Antony Kreitz flew out to centerfield to end the inning.
Again in the eighth inning the Ducks had a man on third after Kenny Bartz tripled with one out. But after Danny Pulfer walked, Caleb Tommasini grounded into a double play to end the inning.
Pulfer went 1-for-3 with a walk and Bartz was 1-for-3 with a triple for Oregon.
The Ducks take on the Beavers again tonight, this time at Salem-Keizer Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer at 6 p.m.
