I just read on the ESPN news crawler that UO has offered the men’s basketball head coaching job to Tubby Smith: big mistake.
Smith came to the University of Minnesota in a surprise move three years ago. The biggest surprise is how little he has done to revive a moribund program. Basically Smith is a nice guy, my age — 59, and skating on his reputation. Tell the new athletic director to get a young, aggressive top assistant from a perennial winner like KU, MSU, UNC or Duke.
