The second game of the season for the Oregon women’s basketball team is also its first road contest.
The Ducks (1-0) will take on Long Beach State at 7 p.m. Friday at Walter Pyramid in the home opener for the 49ers.
Long Beach State (0-2) suffered road defeats at Oregon State (71-39) and at Loyola Marymount (74-34) this season. Senior forward Ashley Bookman (7.5 points per game) is the 49ers’ leading scorer to date. LBSU has 10 underclassmen on its roster this season, including seven freshmen.
Oregon defeated Division II Western Oregon 110-70 in its only regular season game. Junior forward Amanda Johnson contributed the 13th double-double of her career (18 points, 11 rebounds) and was among six double-digit scorers for the Ducks.
Last season Oregon defeated LBSU, 102-70, in a home non-conference game. The Ducks lost two non-conference games on the road in the 2009-10 season to then-No. 25 Georgia Tech and Utah.
