This weekend the Oregon men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in their first indoor meet of the season, the UW Indoor Preview in Seattle.
As many as 16 Ducks will compete for the first time in an Oregon uniform at Saturday’s event, beginning at 8 a.m. at Washington’s Dempsey Indoor Facility. A number of All-Americans, including pentathlete Brianne Theisen, pole vaulter Melissa Gergel and middle-distance runners Anne Kesselring, Zoe Buckman, Elijah Greer and Travis Thompson, are expected to compete, albeit in off-events.
Oregon begins the 2011 indoor track and field season ranked No. 1 on the women’s side and No. 4 on the men’s side. The women are the defending national champions; the men tied for runner-up with Texas A&M last season.
