Josh Huff was a bit of an enigma this year. Sure, he improved on a breakout freshman campaign with 29 catches for 416 yards, but many expected more out of Huff as a go-to target for quarterback Darron Thomas. Of course, much of that can probably be chalked up to a stress fracture that he has dealt with all year, and the explosive sophomore did conjure a few highlights — the most memorable of which being displayed prominently above.
It was the third quarter against Stanford, and Oregon held a narrow 22-16 lead. Thomas faked the handoff and rolled to his right before uncorking a laser to Huff. Cornerback Terrence Brown slipped, allowing Huff to break into the open field. Free safety Michael Thomas closed in around the 30-yard line, but Huff nimbly shook him with a series of head fakes, and that was it. Huff could high-step his way into the endzone (with the Duck pointing the way, just in case he forgot) and Oregon never relinquished the lead. As this photo captures nicely, a healthy Josh Huff is a threat to just about any opposing defense.
