Dana Altman is closing in on a monster 2017 recruiting class.
Troy Brown Jr., the nation’s No. 18-ranked recruit by ESPN and No. 13 by 247Sports, has given a verbal commitment to Oregon men’s basketball.
Brown picked the Ducks over finalists Alabama, Ohio State, Arizona, Cal, Georgetown, Kansas, Duke and UNLV.
Brown’s decision makes him the second highest ranked recruit in program history. He averaged 19 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists during his junior year at Centennial High School. Over the summer, Brown led Team USA to a gold medal at the U17 FIBA World Championships, scoring in double figures and leading the team in minutes on the court.
Brown, a Las Vegas native, announced his commitment via a Bleacher Report video on Monday.

“At the end of the day the thing that made them stand out over the other schools was the coaching staff,” Brown told Rivals.com. “I had a lot of options, but at the end of the day I was comfortable with the coaching staff and I was confident in them and how they would let me play and I really felt a lot of trust in coach Altman.
Brown, a 6-foot-7 high school senior, can sign with the Ducks on Wednesday during the opening day of the early signing period. He becomes the third recruit in the 2017 class for Oregon, along with Victor Bailey and Abu Kigab.
