The Oregon men’s basketball team and head coach Dana Altman landed Georgetown 6-foot-9 transfer Paul White on Wednesday morning. White announced his decision via Twitter.
University of Oregon will be my new home! Thank you to the whole Oregon family for making me a Duck now. Time to work 😈 #GoDucks 🙌🏽🙌🏽

White played in just seven games last season — averaging 9.6 minutes — due to a midseason hip injury. The Chicago native appeared in all 33 games during his freshman year at Georgetown, averaging 5.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists. Coming out of high school, White was a McDonald’s All-American nominee and ranked N0. 34 overall in ESPN’s 2014 class.
Georgetown announced White would transfer on Aug. 18. White also considered Nebraska, taking an official visit, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.
Once White enrolls at Oregon, he will have two years of eligibility remaining. DuckTerritory.com reported Wednesday morning that White will apply for a medical hardship waiver for his sophomore year through the NCAA. Regardless, White will have to sit out the 2016-2017 season due to transfer rules, but will be allowed to practice with the team.
White announced his transfer as the Ducks were traveling back to Eugene after going 4-0 during the team’s foreign trip to Spain.
