City news reporters are the community’s first responders. They work relentlessly and passionately to inform residents on all things local government, law enforcement, city administration and beyond. When news breaks, they cover it. When community members have questions, they turn to our news reporters for answers. Reporters may work on long-form, in-depth, and investigative pieces as well as shorter breaking news stories.
Responsibilities include:
- Pitch and write weekly anchor stories on deadline.
- Work on large scale reporting projects.
- Collaborate frequently with other reporters and desks.
- Maintain regular breaking shift hours to keep an eye on community news.
- Keep the pulse of the Eugene community and engage with the public by attending relevant community meetings and participating in open houses.
- Attend weekly desk meetings and all-staff meetings.
