We asked Skyla what Emerald independence means to her and how her experience at Emerald Media Group has impacted her personally. Here’s what she said:
“Independence means everything for developing key ethics skills with my staff and allowing us to produce accurate, timely and excellent pieces of work unhindered. It’s essential for maintaining the privilege and capabilities of being real, authentic journalists.
“The Emerald has allowed me to completely come into my own as a journalist and build my skills and specific brand unlike anything else I’ve experienced in college. My time as an EiC here has totally fostered my career and continues to open new doors of opportunities and challenges every day!”
