Update, Oct. 7: Post now includes more quotes from Kelly Graves.
It’s time to break out the basketball shoes and lace up with the Oregon women’s basketball program.
On Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena, fans will be able to get a taste of NCAA basketball under the lights with a unique adult-only fantasy camp.
Head coach Kelly Graves, along with current members and assistant coaches of the Oregon women’s basketball team, is hosting a clinic for adult fans to test out their skills and interact with the program in a profoundly unique setting. Beginning with drills and then later forming teams, fans will be able to connect with their favorite Ducks in a special way.
“We really want to give our fans a fun, unique experience,” Graves said in a release. “We want to get to know them and show them a good time.”
At Gonzaga, Graves and his staff drew thousands for their annual fan day. He hopes to create the same type of connection between the community and the program.
“I think part of reason we are doing the fantasy camp is to introduce us to people and how we coach,” Graves said Tuesday, Oct. 7 before practice. “At Gonzaga, my style and personality as well as my assistant coaches were so well-known in the community that people knew us. This gives us the chance, up-close to see how we coach and have some fun, let our hair down a little bit—those that have hair. And yeah, have a little bit of fun.”
Fans of all ability levels are welcome to attend.
However, due to NCAA regulations, all attendees must be non-recruitable (no children, middle school/high school athletes or current college students).
Here is information included in the release if you wish to attend:
— Please email Illya Lebow ([email protected]) in the women’s basketball office if you wish to attend.
— However, walkups will be welcome.
— Liability waivers need to be signed on arrival.
— There is no cost for people to attend.
