After the week Oregon track and field’s Jenna Prandini just had, it should come as no surprise that she was honored as the Division I Women’s Athlete of the Week by U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association Tuesday.
Prandini, a junior, had an impressive performance at the Mt. SAC Relays over the weekend. She won the 100 in a time of 10.92, breaking the previous school record of 10.96 set by English Gardner in 2013. The junior also tied Elaine Thompson for the fastest time in the world this season in the event, and set the second-fastest time ever in NCAA history.
Prandini followed that up by claiming the world leading mark in the 200 as well, winning in 22.42. She broke her own school record of 22.60 from last year.
Prandini was also named the Pac-12 Track Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Oregon will compete at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia this week. The meet is set to begin on Thursday.
