Despite not winning a single event on the final day of the UW Invitational, multiple Oregon Indoor Track and Field athletes ascended near the top of the school record books Saturday.
“It was a good day for the group that made the trip,” Head Coach Robert Johnson told GoDucks.com, “There were solid performances all around, today and another great performance last night by Greg.”
One such performance came from Tony James, who made his athletic debut at the university. James, a four-star football recruit last year according to ESPN, red shirted his first season on the gridiron.
James clocked a 6.71 in the semifinals of the 60m. The time marks second in school history for dual-sport athletes, tied with Ashton Eaton. James placed fourth in the finals with a time of 6.73.
Veteran thrower Brittany Mann throw of 51-3.75 (15.64m) in the shot put ranks second in school history. Mann finished second in the event.
Mitch Modin, moved from third to second in the heptathlon, which concluded with three final events on Saturday. Modin recorded personal records in the 60m hurdles (8.30) and the pole vault (14-9/4.50m), placing second in the latter.
Recording a total of 5,510 points on the day, Modin currently ranks seventh on the NCAA Indoor Qualifying List and fifth in school history.

Oregon’s next events will take place Feb. 13-14. The Ducks will split into three teams, competing in the Millrose Games, Don Kirby Elite and Husky Classic.
