According to Cathryn Stevens, director of communications for the Eugene Airport, Thursday, March 22, is expected to be the busiest travel day the airport has had since last year’s BCS National Championship Game peak travel day.
About 1,600 passengers are expected to leave from the airport on Thursday, approximately 500 more people than usual.
Due to the inclement weather conditions seen early Wednesday morning, streets, businesses and schools either closed down or delayed opening. In a press release, Eugene Public Works — the service provider for street plowing and downed trees — reported receiving 513 service requests, including 114 snow and ice calls.
More snow is expected to come in tonight according to local weather reports, which may once again hinder travel abilities.
“If students are traveling tomorrow, they have to get here at least two hours early.” Stevens said.
