Nina Nolen, University junior, was confirmed to Senate Seat 13 at Wednesday night’s meeting. Nolen is the public relations coordinator at the Women’s Center and student office assistant for the ASUO.
“I know the nuts and bolts of the ASUO, and I know how to fix the copier,” Nolen said.
A few senators voiced concerned about Nolen’s packed schedule. However she seemed to put most of these to rest ensuring that she is committed to fulfilling her responsibilities.
“I hope to run with openness, compassion and a willingness to learn,” Nolen said.
At the meeting, Senate also revisited the Office of Student Advocacy resolution that was voted on without quorum last week.
ASUO President Ben Eckstein explained the process with which the powers of this office were taken away. This resolution would be working toward giving power back to the Office of Student Advocacy to research and advise the ASUO on policy issues.
This week, the resolution was passed.
Next week, Eckstein will continue conversations with Student Affairs to discuss reinstating this service.
